SPOTLIGHT ON GREEN AND GOLD

THE STYLE EDIT

Some colours are simply meant to be paired together…. green shades and gold alone are each beautiful but bring them both together and the result is magical.

INSPIRATION BEHIND THE TREND

This colour combination has been matched by artists and designers for centuries so we shouldn’t be surprised that it’s the hot colour forecast for ‘20 – ‘21. Gold jewellery itself has seen a big resurgence in the last few years but add a range of striking green gemstones and the complimentary effect is currently being harnessed by designers in different fields right now, from interior design matching furniture and wallpaper in this way through to the current fashion trends treading the catwalks and even popular nail art.

This combination was popular back in the Art Deco period (a time of impeccable taste and innovation that we draw on for inspiration often). It’s also a pairing you can spot around the world in places with rich cultures of colour such as the North Coast of Africa and parts of the East. It can be seen in Architecture in Morocco and Thailand and by adding a Midas touch of gold to the current love of botanical patterns and design popular right now this combination is growing here in the UK.

LUXE COLOUR PALETTE

Working with gemstones there is a gorgeous array of green tones gemstones for us to work with. Prehnite offers us pale acid green for a light, airy look (perfect for Spring / Summer styling) Whilst Green Aventurine, Labradorite, Jade and Malachite brings a range of tone from rainforest green to striking forest green and mossy shades. The result of these shades set in gold is a luxurious and rich effect which can look invigorating and special.

HOW TO WORK THE LOOK

Luckily this colour combination works for most people, as it is so complimentary with different skin and hair tones. It’s also easy to wear for different occasions as it can look informal and breezy with jeans and casual wear, or sophisticated with work cloths and striking with occasion wear.

Try to wear the lighter shades, or more delicate pieces in the daytime and save the decadent tones of green or larger statement jewellery for special occasions. This jewellery trend looks its best when layered so try to wear 2 or 3 necklaces, mixing matt or textured gold pendants with those featuring the gemstones. Try stacking rings in various shade of green to match any earrings and bracelets for a complete look.

Green is my favourite colour in the world so I couldn’t be happier that it’s back in style so much and when mixed with gold it’s heaven so we’ve designed plenty in this combination to choose from!
